Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has seized two tractors loaded with illicitly mined boulders in the Cheerpora area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Uttersoo.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that a patrolling police team intercepted the vehicles—bearing registration numbers JK13E-4993 and JK03N-2734—confiscating both the tractors and the illegally extracted material on the spot.
The drivers have been identified as Adil Ahmad Wagay, son of Bashir Ahmad Wagay, a resident of Krad, and Rahil Khursheed Wani, son of Khursheed Ahmad Wani, a resident of Cheerpora. Following the operation, Police Station Uttersoo registered a case under FIR No. 82/2026 under Section 305(e) BNS and Section 3 of the PPD Act, initiating a full investigation. Reaffirming their zero-tolerance stance, police emphasized that strict action against unauthorized mining will continue to protect public resources and the environment.
