Ganderbal :  The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) recently launched the Labour Code Compliance Initiative–2026 by organizing a series of Capacity Building and Awareness Workshops aimed at educating outsourced employees about their rights and duties under the new labour laws.

During the inaugural session at Tulmulla Campus, Registrar Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir emphasized the importance of awareness in empowering employees to understand and access their legitimate rights and statutory benefits. He highlighted the University’s commitment to ensuring that both outsourced and regular employees are informed about their entitlements, thereby fostering a culture of responsibility and compliance. The workshop featured a technical session led by Mr. Mohammad Ehsanul Haq, Deputy PF Commissioner, who provided insights into the consolidated Labour Codes, particularly focusing on the Social Security Code and the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). He explained that the Government of India has streamlined 29 previous labour laws into four comprehensive codes to enhance workers’ welfare and social security. Additionally, Ms. Hafsa Qayyum, Assistant Labour Commissioner, conducted an awareness session on the rights and entitlements under the Labour Codes, stressing that knowledge of these rights is crucial for workers to effectively claim their benefits. Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, Deputy Registrar and Nodal Officer for Labour Codes, underscored the initiative’s goal of translating statutory compliance into tangible awareness and accessibility for outsourced staff. In conclusion, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Head of the Department of Management Studies, articulated the purpose of capacity building as a means to bridge the gap between statutory provisions and practical understanding, reinforcing the workshop’s significance in empowering employees.
