Srinagar : The University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Sahitya Akademi, hosted a two-day seminar focused on the literary contributions of Mirza Ghulam Hassan Beg Arif, a prominent Kashmiri poet and writer.
The seminar was held to foster scholarly discussions about his poetry and prose, highlighted his enduring influence on Kashmiri language and literature. During the inaugural session, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the critical role universities play in preserving regional languages and literary traditions, asserting that such events enhance research and inspire student engagement with Kashmir’s intellectual legacy. Prof. Shad Ramzan, from the Sahitya Akademi, underscored the significance of Mirza Beg Arif’s contributions and advocated for ongoing scholarly exploration of both classical and contemporary Kashmiri literature. Dr. Satish Vimal, a Professor at KU, discussed the importance of revisiting the works of influential literary figures and making these traditions accessible to younger audiences through various initiatives. The seminar featured keynote lectures, technical sessions, and interactive discussions aimed at examining the life and literary impact of Mirza Ghulam Hassan Beg Arif. The event was organized to bring together scholars, writers, and researchers for informed academic discourse on his lasting relevance in Kashmiri literature.
