Srinagar:: Police on Thursday said that it has arrrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also destroyed wild cannabis cultivation in Shopian as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan.
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that in Kulgam, authorities apprehended Muzamil Ahmad Rather, a resident of Chancer, after he attempted to evade police checks near Chambgund Bridge. He was found with 190 strips of illegal tablets containing Buprenorphine and Naloxone after which a case under FIR No. 114/2026 was registered and further investigations are currently in progress. In a separate operation in the Melhura area of Shopian, Police in partnership with local residents, destroyed wild cannabis plants that had proliferated over approximately seven kanals of barren land, aiming to curb their potential use for narcotic purposes. In its statement Police appealed people to share with it inputs regarding drug trafficking and illegal cultivation to aid in the fight against drug-related issues.
