Srinagar, June 26: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Srinagar has forecast brief spells of light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at isolated places across Jammu and Kashmir till June 29, while a fresh spell of widespread rainfall is expected from June 30 to July 3.
According to the MeT forecast, brief spells of light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds are likely at a few places during afternoon hours from June 26 to June 29. The department has also predicted pre-monsoon showers in the Jammu division during early morning hours till June 29.
From June 30 to July 3, the weather department has forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by brief intense heavy showers and gusty winds at many places across the Union Territory.
Meanwhile, the MeT department has issued an advisory asking people to suspend boating activities and Shikara rides during thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The department has also warned of the possibility of hailstorms at isolated places and said that brief intense showers may trigger flash floods and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
People have been advised to stay away from nallas, streams and landslide-prone areas during adverse weather conditions, the advisory said.
