The Vice-President also visited the sacred Sindhu Ghat, where he offered prayers and recognized the Sindhu River as a symbol of India’s civilizational heritage. His visit to the Pashmina Goat Farm at Upshi allowed him to learn about efforts to preserve Ladakh’s Pashmina heritage, commending the farm’s role in sustainable livestock management and the empowerment of local women involved in Pashmina production. He acknowledged the contributions of local stakeholders and scientists in enhancing rural livelihoods and preserving cultural assets. Additionally, he inspected the first rock check dam on the Sindhu River, part of the Sindhu Jal Samriddhi Abhiyan, which aims to address water challenges in the region.
