Safai Karamcharis meet Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani at Raabita

Jammu :A delegation of SafaiKaramcharies of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) met Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani at Chief Minister’s Raabita Office regarding their demands for regularisation of Casual SafaiKaramcharis working in different ULBs.
The Union apprised Advisor of its various demands, including regularisation of Casual SafaiKaramcharis who have been working for several years in different ULBs. The Advisor informed the delegation about the steps being taken by the Government and assured to address all genuine demands of the ULB employees in a time bound manner.
The issue of pending promotions in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Kashmir Division also came up for discussion during the meeting. It was decided that all ULBs in the Division shall furnish complete promotion cases to the concerned directorate on an urgent basis to facilitate the timely convening of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and expedite the promotion process.
Following the assurance extended by the Advisor, the SafaiKaramchari Union of the ULBs agreed to call off its strike and assured its full cooperation for ensuring proper sanitation arrangements during the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra.
A separate delegation of SafaiKaramchari Union of Jammu Municipal Corporation also met Nasir Aslam Wani and raised their issues relating to their promotion and regularization. The Advisor stated that with the notification of Recruitment Rules for both Gazetted and Sub-ordinate Services of the JMC, decks have been cleared for promotion of the eligible employees as well as filling up of vacant posts and also assured that further modifications shall be considered in the Recruitment Rules to facilitate promotion of existing employees wherever required. He also issued directions to the Commissioner, JMC, to take consequential action for effective implementation of notified recruitment rules.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the representatives of SafaiKarmachari Union thanked the Advisor, Commissioner Secretary, HUDD and Commissioner, JMC for their intervention and efforts towards resolution of their long pending issues.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary to Government, HUDD, Commissioner, JMC, Director, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu and other officers of the Housing and Urban Development Department.
