KMCH Sempora organizes voluntary blood donation camp

Srinagar: Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) Sempora, on Tuesday organized a voluntary blood donation camp in which several enthusiastic donors donated blood for the cause of humanity.
Executive Director KMCH, Insha Qazi; Principal KMCH, Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Khan; Prof. (Dr.) Ruby Reshi, Head, Department of Pathology/Blood Centre, KMCH; Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Bilal Ahmad, Head, Department of Pathology, GMC Srinagar wo was guest of honor; Principal Madhubani Medical College, Prof. (Dr.) Manzoor Ahmad Thoker; Shabir Ahmad Pandith, Drug Control Officer; Dr. Abdul Gani, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Pulwama; Prof. (Dr.) Basharat Saleem, Head, Department of Anaesthesia; Medical Superintendent KMCH, Dr. Syed Mubashir; heads of various departments, senior faculty members, consultants, specialist doctors from multiple disciplines, and staff members of KMC.
Speaking on the occassion Insha Qazi, Executive Director of KMCH, underscored the critical role of voluntary blood donation, highlighting that blood is an irreplaceable life-saving resource that can only be sourced from human donors. She noted that a single pint of blood can save multiple lives, particularly in emergencies, accidents, and major surgeries. The blood donation camp organized by KMCH marked its second initiative, and Qazi expressed gratitude to the donors for their altruistic contributions. Qazi also discussed the establishment of a blood bank at KMCH, describing the acquisition of necessary licenses and approvals as a significant achievement. Additionally, she announced the launch of free vaccination services for children under five, urging parents to take advantage of these offerings, which are often costly in private healthcare settings. KMCH has also introduced a free bus service for patients traveling to the hospital, enhancing accessibility to medical care. Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Khan, Principal of KMCH, celebrated the successful establishment of the Blood Centre, calling it a proud milestone. Prof. (Dr.) Ruby Reshi, Head of the Department of Pathology and Blood Centre, reiterated the importance of maintaining adequate blood reserves, emphasizing that timely access to blood can be life-saving in critical situations. She encouraged young individuals to become regular voluntary donors. Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Bilal Ahmad, Head of the Department of Pathology at GMC Srinagar, stressed the need for public awareness regarding blood donation, addressing past misconceptions that deterred potential donors. He commended KMCH for its rapid development of healthcare infrastructure and blood banking facilities, as well as the dedication of its faculty and staff in promoting voluntary blood donation. The event concluded with the recognition of blood donors through appreciation certificates, encouraging continued support for such vital initiatives.
