Srinagar :Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, Monday administered the Oath of Office to Suresh Kumar Gupta, who has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority (JKWRRA).

The oath ceremony for Suresh Kumar Gupta as Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority (JKWRRA) was held at Civil Secretariat that was attended by senior government officials and stakeholders in the water resources sector. Speaking on the occasion Chief Secretary congratulated Gupta, highlighting his extensive administrative experience and expertise in natural resource management, which are expected to enhance the Authority’s mission of sustainable and equitable water resource management in the Union Territory. The JKWRRA is a statutory body responsible for regulating and overseeing the development, management, and conservation of water resources in Jammu and Kashmir. It plays a vital role in promoting integrated water resource management, ensuring water security, and advising the government on sustainable utilization policies. Gupta’s appointment, effective from June 9, 2026, under the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010, marks a significant step in the Authority’s leadership. Gupta, a distinguished officer of the 1991 Indian Forest Service batch, brings over thirty years of experience in public administration, environmental governance, and natural resource conservation. His previous roles include Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and various key positions in the Jammu and Kashmir government, where he focused on environmental stewardship and sustainable resource management. Upon taking office, Gupta expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and committed to enhancing water governance, promoting sustainable water use, and effectively regulating the region’s water resources for the public good.
