DIG Traffic Kashmir Reviews Traffic Preparedness for SANJY-2026 in South Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15, 2026: DIG Traffic Kashmir Range, Haseeb Ur Rehman (IPS) on Monday conducted an extensive tour of South Kashmir in connection with Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 to assess the traffic situation, especially at Toll Plaza Awantipora, Anantnag, Nowyug Tunnel, Yatra Transit Camp Mir Bazar, Levdora Walnut Factory Qazigund, Pahalgam and several other key locations.

The DIG Traffic Kashmir was accompanied by Liyaqat Ali, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, and other senior officers of Police. During the visit, the DIG Traffic Kashmir held meetings with senior officers of Traffic Police, CRPF and local Police at the Yatri Transit Camps of Walnut Factory Levdora Kulgam, Mir Bazar Food Depot and Nunwan Parking Area, Pahalgam, regarding hassle-free movement during SANJY-2026.

He closely reviewed congestion points and the overall movement of vehicles in high-pressure areas. On the occasion, he issued strict directions to the SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, all concerned DySPs of Traffic, and other officers and officials of Traffic Kashmir to ensure smooth public movement and minimize traffic congestion during SANJY-2026.

The DIG emphasized the need for better coordination, efficient deployment of personnel and proactive management to ease traffic pressure during the Yatra. He stressed that during SANJY-2026, yatris’ convenience must remain a top priority and urged officers to adopt effective strategies to improve traffic flow.

He further directed that all necessary measures be taken to enhance traffic discipline and ensure hassle-free movement for incoming yatris as well as the general commuting public.
