G’bal : The Department of Urdu at the Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organized a two-day curriculum development workshop on June 9–10, 2026. Chaired by Prof. Sandhya Tiwari (Dean, School of Languages) and organized by Dr. Nusrat Jabeen (HoD, Urdu), the workshop aimed to revise the existing curriculum and finalize the syllabus for the newly introduced One-Year Postgraduate Programme in Urdu in alignment with NEP-2020.

The meeting was attended by internal faculty, external experts from the University of Kashmir, and five research scholars. Prof. Tiwari praised the department’s quick efforts, suggesting the inclusion of Skill Education, Women-Centric Literature, and Ecocriticism. She also recommended assigning research supervisors to PG students by their third semester and encouraged nationwide admissions.

Prof. Sandhya Tiwari called upon the aspiring students from across the country to seize the admission opportunities offered by the CUKashmir. “The admissions for CUKashmir’s postgraduate programmes for the academic session 2026–27 is going on and the aspirants should avail the opportunity,” she added.

Earlier, in her address, Dr. Nusrat Jabeen, HoD Urdu Department, emphasized the importance of regular curriculum review in maintaining academic quality and ensuring that academic programmes remain aligned with the evolving needs of students and contemporary developments in the discipline. She said that during the workshop, participants engaged in detailed discussions on various aspects of the curriculum to make it in alignment with NEP-2020. “The existing syllabus was carefully reviewed, and several suggestions were put forward to enhance its academic relevance, structure, and effectiveness. The participants examined course content, learning objectives and outcomes, to ensure that it meets contemporary academic standards and addresses the needs of learners. A major outcome of the workshop was the preparation of the syllabus for the One-Year PG Programme in Urdu.”
