Srinagar, Jun 5: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said that a historic movement against narco-terrorism has emerged across Kashmir, as he joined the ‘Drug-Free J&K’ campaign in Ganderbal and reiterated the administration’s commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the Union Territory.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he proudly participated in the campaign in Ganderbal, walking alongside citizens and addressing a large gathering.
“Having now visited every district in Kashmir Valley and stood with each march, I can say that a historic movement against narco-terrorism has risen,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Sinha said that during the past 55 days, authorities have registered 1,036 FIRs and arrested 1,128 drug smugglers across Jammu and Kashmir.
He further stated that more than 100 properties belonging to drug smugglers have been attached, while nearly 700 driving licences have been cancelled. Recommendations have also been made for the cancellation of passports of 130 individuals involved in drug smuggling activities.
The Lieutenant Governor said the campaign reflects the collective resolve of society and law enforcement agencies to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free and protect the youth from the dangers of narcotics.
