Association says prolonged pendency of demands leaves employees with no option but to continue peaceful agitation
Srinagar, Sept 11: The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) has announced a further 72-hour extension of its ongoing protest and strike across the Union Territory, beginning September 12, over the continued pendency of its long-standing demands.
In a formal communication to the Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, the association said the decision was necessitated by the absence of a “concrete, time-bound resolution” to the issues raised by NHM employees before the competent authorities.
The association said the extension had been announced on behalf of NHM employees across Jammu and Kashmir and maintained that the agitation would continue in a completely peaceful, democratic and constitutional manner.
It also urged participating employees to maintain discipline and uphold public order during the extended protest, while stressing that the association remained committed to dialogue and constructive engagement with the government.
“The Association remains committed to dialogue and constructive engagement,” the communication said, expressing hope that the government would initiate meaningful and time-bound measures to address the grievances of NHM employees.
The association further stated that it reserved the right to review, extend or modify its course of agitation depending on the response and concrete action taken by the competent authorities.
