Kreeri, Baramulla 5 June : Former minister and senior political leader Basharat Bukhari on Friday expressed concern over the rising drug menace in society, terming it a “viral infection” that is badly affecting the younger generation.
Bukhari was addressing a gathering during a party programme held in Kreeri, where identity cards were distributed among party delegates and newly joined workers in the presence of prominent political activists and social workers.
During the event, discussions were also held on the party manifesto, organisational activities, and key political developments in Jammu and Kashmir. Basharat Bukhari said that the contents and purpose of the proposed National Conference protest in Delhi over statehood restoration are still not clear to the public.
He also spoke about the recent Galwanpora Budgam incident and stressed the importance of maintaining peace, unity, and responsible public conduct.
Highlighting the growing challenge of drug addiction, Bukhari appealed to parents and society at large to remain alert and protect children from falling prey to narcotics. “Drugs are silently destroying our society and immediate collective action is the need of the hour,” he said.
The programme witnessed participation from several prominent political workers and social activists who reaffirmed their commitment towards strengthening public outreach and addressing social issues at the grassroots level.
