WMDA, Civil Defence organize disaster response training programme at Manasbal

Srinagar :Wullar-Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA) in collaboration with Civil Defence Department, Srinagar organized a special training programme for basic stakeholders aimed at enhancing their disaster preparedness, emergency response and public safety awareness.

The training programme was inaugurated by Chief Executive Officer, Wullar-Manasbal Development Authority, Dr AhsanulHaq Chishti in presence of Rahi Riyaz Ahmed, Divisional Warden Civil Defence Srinagar and TOT Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad, Instructors of Civil Defence Srinagar.

More than 40 participants from different trades including shikarawallas, boat operators, sanitation workers, WMDA field staff etc attended the programme and actively took part in various practical and theoretical sessions related to disaster management, first aid, fire safety, rescue operations and emergency response techniques.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chishti underscored the need for training the tourism stakeholders in disaster preparedness for facilitating visitors during emergency times.  He thanked Civil Defence Department, Srinagar for conducting the training programme and emphasized the importance of community-based disaster preparedness. He hoped that such training programmes would impart essential life-saving skills to these stakeholders whom he termed as basic responders in the event of any eventuality.

Rahi Riyaz Ahmed, Divisional Warden Civil Defence Srinagar and TOT Kashmir, highlighted the vital role of Civil Defence volunteers in safeguarding lives and property during natural and man-made disasters. He urged participants to utilize the knowledge gained during the training and spread awareness within their respective communities.

During the training programme, Ajaz Ahmad and Showkat Ahmad, Instructors of Civil Defence Srinagar, conducted various training sessions and practical demonstrations. They stressed the importance of timely response, teamwork, and preparedness in minimizing the impact of disasters and emergencies.
