Srinagar : Additional Deputy Commissioner Vidhu Shekhar Monday chaired a meeting of the District Task Force to review preparedness for the upcoming Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive, scheduled to be conducted across Jammu district from June 28 to 30.

The meeting was informed that the drive aims to cover over 2 lakh children in the age group of 0 to 5 years. District Immunisation Officer Dr. Rashmi Sharma gave a detailed presentation outlining the role and responsibilities assigned to various participating departments for the smooth execution of the drive.

The drive would be executed in a phased manner over three days. June 28 has been designated booth activity day when oral polio vaccine would be administered at over 1,200 vaccination booths set up across the district.

June 29 and 30 would be dedicated to door-to-door visits to cover any left-out children. Special vaccination teams would also be deployed at transit and high-footfall locations, including railway stations, bus stands and other congregational sites, on all three days to ensure no eligible child is missed.

The ADC sought specific information on the status of cold chain infrastructure, vaccine storage and logistics and directed that all arrangements be completed well in advance. The ADC underlined the importance of robust pre-drive IEC (Information, Education and Communication) and public awareness activities to maximise community participation and ensure complete immunisation coverage.

Officers from the departments of ICDS, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Information, Transport and Jammu Municipal Corporation were apprised of their respective roles and the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination with the Department of Health and Medical Education, under whose aegis the programme is implemented.

The meeting was attended by Dy CMO Dr. Arti, Assistant Commissioner Development, Danish Rasool; Deputy Director Information (PR) Moksha Dogra; District Social Welfare Officer, Preeti Sharma and concerned officers from ICDS, Transport Department, JMC and other departments.
