Srinagar:In a major push against drug abuse, the 132 Battalion CRPF under its “Secure Path” initiative, in collaboration with Shining Star Public High School, on Thursday organised a mega one-day awareness programme under the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan at BaghiMehtab in Srinagar.
The programme witnessed participation of students, teachers, CRPF personnel and local residents, with a series of activities aimed at mobilising youth against the growing menace of substance abuse.
The event was anchored by Class 10 students Ulooma Shabir and Tanzeela, while noted resource person S. Umar Bhat delivered a keynote address highlighting the psychological, social and economic impact of drug addiction on society. He urged youth to remain vigilant and actively participate in building a drug-free society.
Commandant of 132 Battalion CRPF, W.R. Josuah, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed the need for collective responsibility and community participation to tackle the drug menace. He said the future of society depends on empowering youth through awareness, education and positive engagement.
A pledge ceremony against drug abuse was also administered by S. Umar Bhat, during which participants resolved to work towards eradication of narcotics from society.
As part of the campaign, a plantation drive symbolising hope and renewal was conducted jointly by CRPF personnel and students. A large-scale signature campaign and anti-drug awareness rally were also organised to spread awareness among the public regarding the harmful effects of narcotics and substance abuse.
Organisers said the initiative was aimed at strengthening grassroots awareness and encouraging youth participation in the nationwide anti-drug movement under the NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan.
