Anantnag :Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, SakeenaItooWednesday met several public delegations from different areas of Anantnag and Kulgam districts during Public Darbar held at Dak Bungalow Khanabal here and listened patiently to a wide range of public issues and developmental demands.
MLA Pahalgam, Altaf Ahmad Wani (Kaloo); MLA Anantnag-West, Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi); MLA Shangus-Anantnag East, Reyaz Ahmad Khan; Programme Officer, CEO, CMO DSWO, Executive Engineers of different departments and other concerned officers of Kulgam and Anantnag districts were also present on the occasion.
During the Public Darbar, local residents, social activists, and community members presented various issues to the Minister, focusing on healthcare, education, and public welfare. They emphasized the need for enhanced healthcare facilities, including the deployment of additional medical and paramedical staff to address shortages. The delegations called for the installation of modern diagnostic equipment, such as X-Ray plants and ECG machines, to improve patient care and ensure better medical services at the grassroots level. There was also a demand for specialist doctors, including ENT specialists and pediatricians, in peripheral hospitals to meet the growing healthcare needs. In addition to healthcare concerns, several delegations raised issues regarding the infrastructure of schools and hospitals, advocating for the construction of new buildings and improvements in basic facilities. They stressed the importance of strengthening educational infrastructure to provide better learning environments for students in rural and remote areas. The Minister attentively listened to the grievances and assured the public of the government’s commitment to equitable development in healthcare and education across Jammu and Kashmir. She stated that genuine issues would be prioritized for appropriate redressal and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and educational infrastructure in underserved areas. The Minister also recognized the significance of public outreach programs for direct interaction with citizens, which helps the government understand pressing grassroots issues. The delegations expressed appreciation for the Minister’s engagement and hoped for timely and phased responses to their demands. Following the meeting, the Minister convened a detailed session with various district officers to review the implementation of public welfare policies and projects. She instructed them to address the issues raised during the meeting promptly and to organize monthly Public Darbars to ensure continuous follow-up on previous demands. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of consulting local MLAs before initiating developmental plans, underscoring the role of public representatives in driving grassroots development. In reviewing the healthcare and education sectors, the Minister directed the rationalization of staff to ensure adequate staffing in public institutions for improved service delivery.
