Kupwara :Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant SuseWednesday  chaired a Mega Block Diwas at Marriage Hall Batergam-Gulgam, where a large number of people from the area participated and projected various developmental issues and public welfare demands before the district administration.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public and assured timely redressal through coordinated efforts of the concerned departments.

Among the key issues discussed during the Block Diwas were the development of playgrounds in panchayats, establishment of a public library, strengthening of healthcare facilities, sanitation management, irrigation support, and other developmental issues in the area.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to identify panchayats where playgrounds are required and take necessary measures for their development to promote sports activities among youth. He also stressed the need for establishing a library facility in the area to encourage educational and reading culture among students and youth.

Highlighting employment generation initiatives, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized awareness and registration under Mission YUVA and urged the concerned departments, including Horticulture and Agriculture, to facilitate youth in establishing self-employment units under various government schemes.

Taking serious note of waste dumping and sanitation concerns, the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat (ACP) was directed to ensure proper door-to-door waste collection and strengthen sanitation management in the area.

Regarding healthcare services, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Health Department to ensure the availability of doctors on a rotation basis for better medical care to the local population.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the implementation and awareness activities under the NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA), reiterating the administration’s commitment towards a drug-free society.

On irrigation-related demands, the concerned officers were asked to explore the feasibility of constructing dug wells and bore wells to address irrigation needs and support agricultural activities in the area.

Earlier, DC Kupwara inspected stalls installed by various departments and enquired about the progress and achievements of their schemes.

CPO, ACP, CMO Officers from various departments, senior citizens and large number of people attended the Mega Block Diwas.
