Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that a joint inspection drive of medical shops and pharmacies was conducted by it in collaboration with the Drug and Food Control Department in Qamarwari and Safakadal under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan–100 Days Campaign to ensure compliance with pharmaceutical laws and curb illegal practices. , ,
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that in Qamarwari, five medical shops — New MS Medicate, Majid Medicate, Kashif Medicate, Baitul Shifa Bund, and Hamad Medicate — were found violating norms, including sale of expired medicines, possession of invalid stock, and non-compliance with regulations governing psychotropic substances. All five establishments were sealed on the spot. In Safakadal, Azim Medicate, run by Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Bemina, was found operating without a valid licence. Inspection revealed nearly 90% of stocked medicines were expired, following which the shop was sealed under due legal procedure.
In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to safeguard public health and prevent misuse of pharmaceutical drugs, adding therein that further legal proceedings have been initiated.
