New Delhi, May 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called upon citizens to change their display pictures on social media platforms as a tribute to the Indian armed forces on the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor,” praising the military’s courage and decisive response during the operation.
In a post on X, Modi said the operation had become a symbol of the bravery and determination of India’s security forces. “A year ago, during #OperationSindoor, our armed forces showcased their valour and gave a firm response to those who attacked our people. Every Indian is proud of our armed forces,” the Prime Minister wrote.
Appealing for a nationwide gesture of solidarity and respect, Modi urged people to adopt a commemorative image as their display picture across social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. “As a mark of respect to our forces and their success during #OperationSindoor, let us all change our display pictures on social media, including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to the picture shared below,” he said.
Operation Sindoor was launched in the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed several civilian lives and triggered widespread outrage across the country.
The military response was viewed as a strong and calibrated operation aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and sending a clear message against terrorism.
Over the past year, the operation has increasingly been projected by the government as an example of India’s assertive national security doctrine, enhanced coordination among the armed forces, and growing defence capabilities backed by indigenous military production initiatives.
