Menhdar :Aimed at strengthening the grassroots governance and enhancing the rural infrastructure, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, Thursday laid the foundation for construction of a Panchayat Ghar at GholadRelhan in Mendhar.

The Panchayat Ghar is being constructed by the Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Department under the Rural Infrastructure Development initiative, at an estimated cost of ₹30 lakh.

The project is expected to provide a modern and functional space to facilitate local governance and community activities.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister emphasized the crucial role Panchayat Ghars play in empowering local self-governance. He said that such institutions act as the backbone of grassroots democracy by enabling effective planning and implementation of development programmes at the village level. He stated that the government remains committed towards strengthening the Panchayati Raj institutions to ensure inclusive growth and participatory development.

Highlighting the benefits of the project, Rana said the new Panchayat Ghar will serve as a dedicated hub for public meetings, grievance redressal and community engagement. “It will also streamline the implementation of various welfare schemes, ensuring greater transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance,” he maintained.

The Minister reiterated that the government is focused on bridging infrastructural gaps in rural and tribal areas. He informed the public that more such development initiatives are in the pipeline to uplift remote and underserved regions.

The local representatives and residents pledged their full cooperation in ensuring timely completion of the Panchayat Ghar while ensuring active participation in future developmental initiatives in their area.
