Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has e arrested three gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that while acting on reliable inputs about gambling activities in the Ganeshpora area Police Station Aishmuqam raided the specified location and during the operation arrested three individuals on the spot for indulging in gambling.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Akbar Rather S/O Mohd Shaban Rather, Javaid Ahmad Rather S/O Gh Rasool Rather and Sajad Ahmad Dass S/O Abdul Ahad Dass, all residents of Waghama, Bijbehara.
Authorities have seized an amount of ₹12,750/- and playing cards from the possession of the accused who have been also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
A case under FIR No. 17/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
In its statement Police warned that people indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law, appealing people therein to share inputs about the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
