New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Thursday asserted that India’s petroleum and LPG supply remains fully secure, dismissing reports of shortages as baseless and misleading.
The Ministry said there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG across the country, adding that all fuel stations are functioning normally without any rationing.
It cautioned citizens against a “deliberate and coordinated misinformation campaign” aimed at creating panic, particularly through misleading social media content showing queues and false claims of supply disruption.
Officials highlighted that India, being one of the world’s largest refiners and exporters of petroleum products, has strong supply fundamentals, with all retail outlets adequately stocked.
The Ministry also clarified that crude oil supplies remain stable despite global uncertainties, with sufficient stock cover and procurement arrangements already secured for the coming months.
On LPG, it said domestic production has increased significantly, reducing dependence on imports, while adequate cargoes are already in transit to meet demand.
The government warned that spreading false information about essential commodities is an offence and urged people to rely only on official sources.
