Anantnag : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested five drug peddlers in separate operations across Anantnag, Pulwama and Awantipora, Police districts and also recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that in Anantnag, two individuals were apprehended at Dara Shikwa Crossing, Bijbehara, and over 2 kg of charas-like substance was recovered. In a separate operation near Fruit Mandi Jablipora, another accused was arrested with more than 1 kg of charas.
In Pulwama, a suspect was intercepted near Women’s Degree College, Tengpona Road, and over 700 grams of ganja-like substance was seized.
Similarly, in Awantipora’sKhrew area, police arrested one person and recovered over 1 kg of charas-like substance.
All accused have been taken into custody and cases under relevant sections have been registered. Investigations are underway.
