Jammu/Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and several ministers on Wednesday extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri, highlighting the festival’s spiritual significance and calling for peace, unity and harmony across Jammu and Kashmir.
In his message, the Deputy Chief Minister described Navratri as a festival of immense religious and cultural importance, symbolising the triumph of truth over falsehood and good over evil.
He said the occasion inspires people to uphold the values of compassion, unity and devotion, and prayed for the wellbeing, happiness and prosperity of all.
He also underscored Jammu and Kashmir’s legacy of diversity and coexistence, expressing hope that the festival would further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among people of all faiths.
Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana said Navratri marks a sacred period of devotion, self-discipline and spiritual reflection. He noted that the festival symbolises the eternal victory of truth and righteousness and urged people to work collectively towards progress while preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
Minister for Agriculture Production and allied departments Javid Ahmad Dar described Navratri as a vibrant celebration of Nari Shakti, representing strength, resilience and divine feminine energy. He said the nine-day festival inspires reflection, renewal of faith and pursuit of a peaceful and prosperous life.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and other portfolios Satish Sharma highlighted that Navratri symbolises the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. He said the festival encourages people to reaffirm their commitment to righteousness, compassion and self-discipline while strengthening communal harmony and mutual respect.
Minister for Health and Medical Education SakeenaItoo said Navratri promotes faith, positivity and collective harmony. She emphasised that such occasions reinforce shared values of coexistence, inclusiveness and care for vulnerable sections of society.
The leaders collectively prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, expressing hope that the festival would usher in renewed positivity and further strengthen unity and harmony across the region.
