Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 8 vehicles in Pulwama and Anantnag for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that in Pulwama, police conducted a special operation in the areas of Akhal and Drubgam in Rajpora and seized 5 vehicles including 02 JCB machines, 01 dumper, and 02 tractors, for bwing involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. Accordingly, cases FIR No. 34/2026 and FIR No. 35/2026 have been registered under relevant sections of law in police station, and further investigation has been taken up.
In Anantnag, Police during a naka checking operation conducted by Police Station Aishmuqam at Badigam Aishmuqam intercepted and seized three tractors found to be carrying illegally extracted bajri from Nallah Lidder. The vehicles were immediately taken into custody. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam, and further investigation has been set into motion. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to act firmly against illegal mining activities and appealed people to cooperate in safeguarding natural resources.
