DSWO Srinagar organizes Health Camp for senior citizens under AVYAY scheme

Srinagar :  District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) Srinagar successfully organized a Screening and Health Camp for Senior Citizens under the AVYAY (Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana) scheme at Community Hall Malik Sahab Soura, Srinagar.

The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting the health, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens by facilitating early detection of age-related ailments and ensuring access to essential healthcare services. The camp aimed to strengthen outreach mechanisms and enhance awareness regarding welfare schemes and healthcare support available for the elderly population.

The event witnessed the active participation of senior citizens, healthcare professionals, and members of the community.

During the camp, Dr. Arifa Safdar (Medical Officer), ZMO Zadibal along with her team conducted a comprehensive health screenings including blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing, general physical examinations, and medical consultations. The doctors provided guidance on preventive healthcare, lifestyle modifications, medication management, and the importance of regular health check-ups. Special emphasis was laid on addressing common geriatric health concerns such as hypertension, diabetes, joint disorders, and vision-related issues.

Experts also sensitized participants about the various benefits and support systems available under the AVYAY Scheme, including provisions for healthcare assistance, social security measures, and institutional support for senior citizens.

Informational material was distributed to create awareness regarding accessible government services and grievance redressal mechanis
