Marking Social Justice Day, a programme was held at Government Degree College Reasi under the supervision of Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC) Rashi Baru. The team, including Deputy Chief LADC Bhumica Sharma and Assistant LADCs Niharika Bamotra and Dheeraj Thakur, addressed participants on equality, human rights and access to justice for marginalised sections.
At Village Kotla, DLSA volunteers conducted a session on agriculture and horticulture initiatives. Farmers were informed about tractor subsidies, fruit plantation drives, the Warming Compound Scheme, Dug Well Scheme and Sphere Pump Scheme.
Parallel events focused on social welfare were held at Panchayat Agar Jitto and Village Bhagote Jagir. Para Legal Volunteers of Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Katra educated residents at Agar Jitto about schemes for women, persons with disabilities and widows. At Bhagote Jagir, DLSA volunteers sensitised senior citizens regarding Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana and the Old Age Pension Scheme.
Additionally, TLSC Mahore conducted a “Say No to Drugs” programme at Legal Aid Clinic Chassana. The session covered provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and legal repercussions of drug offences.
