During the visit, the Director conducted a thorough inspection of various sections including OPD, IPD, Emergency Services, Labour Room, Operation Theatre, Laboratory, Immunization Centre, Pharmacy and store sections. The availability of essential drugs, diagnostic services, blood storage facilities, oxygen supply, power backup, ambulance services and overall patient care management was comprehensively reviewed.
The DHSJ assessed the implementation of various National Health Programmes, maternal and child health services, institutional deliveries, immunization coverage, non-communicable disease screening and Ayushman Bharat related services. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring quality healthcare standards, proper record maintenance, infection control practices, biomedical waste management and patient satisfaction.
The Director also interacted with the general public. The public highlighted issues related to availability of specialist services, enhancement of laboratory investigations, improved referral transport system and regular supply of medicines. The Director patiently listened to their grievances and assured them that the department is committed to address their concerns in a time-bound manner.
While addressing the staff and public, the Director reiterated that the Health Department is committed to equitable and accessible healthcare services, especially in remote and underserved regions. He stressed upon maintaining discipline, punctuality, patient-friendly services and close coordination with the local administration to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery.
The visit concluded with clear directions to the concerned officers to ensure optimal functioning of health institutions, improve service delivery mechanisms and submit a detailed report on the requirements and gaps identified during the inspection.
The field visit reflects the proactive and people-centric approach of the Directorate of Health Services Jammu towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring quality medical care to the residents of remote mountainous areas.
