The event, overseen by Sh. The booklet emphasizes the enhancement of scientific investigation practices within the Jammu & Kashmir Police by providing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various stages of fingerprint collection, from initial lifting to submission into the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS). It also introduces the CrPIS system (Measurement Collection Unit), developed by the National Crime Records Bureau under MHA guidance. In his address, IGP Crime Shri Sujit Kumar highlighted the critical need for strict adherence to these SOPs to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in criminal investigations. He pointed out that scientific evidence and digital fingerprint identification are essential for improving conviction rates and tracking inter-state crimes. The publication serves as a professional reference for investigators and forensic personnel, outlining updated SOPs, crime scene management protocols, fingerprint collection standards, and coordination mechanisms with national databases. The Jammu & Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to modernization, capacity building, and the adoption of technology-driven investigation methods in alignment with MHA guidelines.
