CRPF Chief Pays homage to 40 personnel, Reiterates solidarity with NOKs beyond ceremonial tributes

Srinagar: Paying rich tributes to the 40 personnel killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) GP Singh on Saturday said that paramilitary force is duty-bound to eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.

Talking to the reporters here, Singh termed the anniversary as an emotional occasion for the force and reiterated its continued commitment to the welfare of the martyrs’ families.

“We lost 40 brave personnel in 2019. We are here to honour their sacrifice,” he said, adding that the CRPF remains steadfast both in its operational responsibilities and in supporting the families of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The DG CRPF said a range of welfare measures have been extended over the years, including housing support, land allotments and financial assistance.

According to him, 19 Next of Kins (NOKs) of martyrs have been provided houses, while others have received land with the assistance of respective state administrations.

He said compassionate appointments are being offered to eligible family members as they attain the required age, and financial packages have been disbursed to all affected families.

“To ensure smoother coordination and quicker redressal of concerns, the CRPF has introduced the Brave Family App. The platform connects families of martyrs directly with the force’s welfare directorate, enabling them to raise issues and track support services,” the DGP added.

Singh said that the force’s responsibility extends beyond ceremonial tributes. “We stand with the families not just today, but every day. Their concerns are our priority,” he said.

Reaffirming the organisation’s resolve, the DG said the CRPF would continue to back the families of Pulwama martyrs as well as those of personnel who lost their lives in subsequent anti-terror operations.

The Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel after a suicide bomber targeted their convoy on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The anniversary each year is marked by tributes and remembrance ceremonies across the country
