Srinagar : Indian Army’s Northern Command chief, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, on Saturday underscored the need for a robust intelligence grid and enhanced synergy among security agencies, stressing that strong coordination is vital for an effective and timely response to any emerging threat in the region.
Lt Gen Sharma said this during his visit to forward formations and units deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) and in the hinterland areas of north Kashmir to review the prevailing security situation.
Army said during the visit, officers on the ground briefed the Army Commander about the counter-infiltration grid, operational preparedness and security measures undertaken in the hinterland to dominate the operational space.
“The Army Commander emphasised on importance of a strong intelligence grid and close coordination with sister agencies for effective and timely response to any emerging threat,” Army Northern Command said on X.
The Army Commander also visited the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg.
“He also visited the High Altitude Warfare School, Gulmarg, where he reviewed the training activities with a particular focus on skill enhancement through incorporation of technology and innovation,” Army said.
Lt Gen Sharma visited the Army Aviation Squadrons operating in Kashmir Valley which are the backbone of active formations for emergency response and logistical support to troops deployed in remote and inaccessible areas.

These units are the backbone for the active formations in responding to emergency situations and provide logistics support to the troops deployed in inaccessible places,” Northern Command said in a separate post on X.
