Jammu: School picnic bus overturns, 10 students among 15 injured

Jammu : At least ten students, four teachers and a cook were injured after a school picnic bus met with an accident in Jammu on Saturday.

Witnesses said that the bus ran over the divider and overturned on the Ring Road near Bishnah area this evening, triggering panic.

Officials said that the bus was carrying students of a private school Pragwal Akhnoor and was returning from a picnic. At least 15 persons sustained injuries in the accident.

They said that some of the injured students were shifted to AIIMS Jammu, while others were taken to Government Medical College, Jammu for treatment.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after the accident to help the victims.

Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu said that all the injured are stable and every possible assistance is being provided to them. “All senior medical teams from surgery, ortho, paediatrics, critical care are present and taking care,” he added. The injured were identified as:
1. Saveeta Manhas age 35 yrs W/o Arjun Singh R/o Sajwal Akhnoor. (teacher)
2. Bandna kumari age 22 yrs D/o Tarseem Singh R/o Meerpur Pargwal. (teacher)
3. Saroj Devi age 34 yrs W/o Balwinder Singh R/o Pargwal. (teacher)
4. Sohan Singh age 35 yrs S/o Sham Singh R/o Pargwal. (teacher)
5. Naksh Thakur age 10 yrs S/o Tarseem Singh R/o Pargwal. (student)
6. Neeraj Sjngh age 52 yrs S/o Baldev Singh R/o Takwal, Pargwal. (cook)
7. Mavisksha Rajput age 06 yrs D/o Arjun Singh R/o Gurha Manhasa, Pargwal. (student)
8. Paras Rajput age 09 yrs S/o Sohan Singh R/o Pargwal. (student)
9. Abhay Kumar age 15 yrs S/o Pritam Chand R/o Pindi Pargwal. (student)
10. Dhanvir Singh age 11 yrs S/o Parshotam Singh R/o Pargwal (Student)
11. Sneha Manhas age 25 yrs D/o Tarsem Singh R/o Pargwal (Teacher)
12. Jeewan Manhas age 16 yrs S/o Veer Bahdur Singh R/o Pargwal (Student)
