Samba: Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo Saturday visited Samba and took comprehensive review of developmental scenario and implementation of key government schemes across the district in a meeting held at District Administrative Complex here. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar; Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan; Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu; Chief Engineers of CPWD, Jal Shakti (PHE), Flood Control, and PWD; Directors of Agriculture, Command Area, Geology and Mining departments, Director Colleges, all district-level and sectoral officers of Samba district attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary undertook a comprehensive review of targets and achievements across various sectors and flagship programs, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, PMGSY, AMRUT 2.0, and health initiatives such as the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme. The assessment also covered major infrastructure projects, notably the Amritsar-Katra Expressway. The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of enhancing inter-departmental coordination, expediting ongoing projects, and submitting monthly progress reports on priority schemes to ensure timely completion and effective implementation. He highlighted the need to expand coverage under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, promote higher enrollment in government schools, and accelerate flood-control measures. Additionally, he called for a crackdown on illegal activities, including mining and drug trafficking, urging strict enforcement and proactive intelligence-sharing to maintain law and order. The Chief Secretary addressed delays in land allotment and directed officials to expedite the resolution of land-related cases that impact developmental projects. In terms of beneficiary-oriented schemes, he urged the district administration to increase disbursal numbers under Kisan Credit Cards and other livelihood initiatives, focusing on reaching eligible beneficiaries and eliminating procedural delays. He also instructed health officials to improve maternal and child health services and enhance rural health infrastructure through better coordination among relevant departments. On a positive note, the Chief Secretary distributed sanction letters under Mission YUVA to selected beneficiaries, reinforcing the government’s commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship in the district.
