Crime Branch Kashmir Files Charegsheet Against Two Bank Officials For Embezzling Public Money
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsappTelegramEmail
Srinagar|Dec, 6:  The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a charge sheet in a case involving an alleged job scam, accusing two individuals of cheating aspirants by falsely promising employment in J&K Bank and collecting large sums of money from them.
Officials said the chargesheet was submitted before the Court of Passenger Tax, Sub-Registrar Srinagar in FIR No. 50/2023 registered under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code. The accused have been identified as Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, son of Abdul Majeed Sheikh, a resident of Pahloo area of Kulgam, and Aijaz-ul-Rehman Manroo, son of Abdul Rehman Manroo, a resident of Bulbul Bagh, Barzulla in Srinagar.
The case originated from a written complaint alleging that the accused deceived several complainants on the false assurance of securing them jobs in J&K Bank. Investigators said the victims were induced to part with significant amounts of money on the belief that the employment offers were genuine.
Following the complaint, a formal investigation was launched by the Economic Offences Wing at Crime Branch Kashmir. During the probe, it surfaced that the accused had issued fake and forged appointment orders to the complainants to substantiate their claims and extract money.
Officials said the investigation established that the accused acted in connivance with each other and deliberately used forged documents to mislead job aspirants. The role of both accused was corroborated through documentary evidence, witness statements and forensic examination carried out during the course of the investigation.
On completion of the probe, the EOW concluded that sufficient evidence exists to prosecute the accused for the offences invoked in the case. The chargesheet has now been placed before the competent court for judicial determination.
Officials said Crime Branch Kashmir remains committed to cracking down on financial frauds and job rackets, and will continue to act against individuals exploiting unemployed youth through false promises of employment.
