During the visit, DC took stock of the availability of machinery, and overall readiness to tackle potential challenges posed by heavy snowfall. The inspection aimed to ensure uninterrupted road connectivity and timely response to snowfall emergencies in the district.
DC reviewed the availability and operational efficiency of 12 snow clearance machines available, including Trucks, Tractors, Backhoe Loader and Snow Cutter, which will be tasked with clearing snow from an extensive road network spanning approximately 586 kms.
Officials from Mechanical & Hospital Engineering Sub-Division Ganderbal provided a comprehensive briefing on their preparedness plan, including deployment strategies for snow-clearing machinery in critical areas to ensure uninterrupted operations during snow emergencies.
DC issued specific directions to ensure that all snow clearance machines remain in a state of readiness and are deployed promptly during snowfall to avoid disruptions.
He instructed the round the clock functioning of the 24×7 control room to monitor snow clearance operations and address public grievances in real time.
He also emphasized robust coordination with other departments to manage emergencies effectively, prioritizing the clearance of critical routes such as highways, hospitals, and educational institutions.
DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring public safety and convenience, urging the department to work in close coordination with other allied agencies for efficient winter management.
