Samba : As part of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025 celebration, a series of events were organised across District Samba to honour the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and to highlight the rich heritage of India’s tribal communities.

Government Degree College Purmandal organised a Quiz and Painting Competition on the theme “Tribal Life and History”, encouraging students to explore the traditions, art, and culture of tribal societies through knowledge and creativity.

Similarly, GDC Ghagwal hosted an extension lecture on “Birsa Munda’s Legacy: Inspiring the Youth towards Social Justice and Equality”, motivating students to imbibe the values of courage, justice and reform championed by the tribal icon.

The Youth Services and Sports Department organised a sports event at Government High School Tarore- Zone Ghagwal, aimed at promoting fitness, team spirit and enthusiasm among students.

Likewise, Drawing Competitions were held at Anganwadi Centres across the district to nurture creativity and spread awareness among children about tribal culture and pride. In addition, Special Anemia and NCD Screening Camps were organised for the tribal population at AWC Battal and PHC Nud under NTPHC Goran, Zone Sumb. The camps provided health check-ups, awareness sessions on anaemia and family planning, and free distribution of medicines. The Department of AYUSH, Samba also held Yoga and Health Check-up Camps at Anganwadi Centres of Panchayat Bari, promoting holistic wellness among local women and children.

These collective initiatives across educational institutions, health centres, and community spaces reflected the district’s deep respect for tribal heritage while promoting education, health and empowerment at every level.
