New Delhi |Nov,11 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at his residence to assess the situation following the deadly blast in Delhi that killed eight people and injured several others on Monday evening.The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Sadanand Vasant Date, and Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha. Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat joined the meeting virtually.
Sources said that investigation into the explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, is currently a focal point for multiple agencies. Following the incident. Addressing the top security review meeting the Home Minister directed a comprehensive multi-agency investigation involving the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and Delhi Police to ascertain the cause, nature, and source of the explosives used.
On Tuesday morning, teams from the FSL and NIA returned to the blast site to gather further forensic evidence, with the NIA providing assistance to the Delhi Police in the ongoing investigation. Officials are also examining a significant recovery of explosives from a residence in Faridabad, which appears to be interconnected with the explosion.
In a notable development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with Haryana Police, recovered 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate and 2,900 kg of materials for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from an apartment in Faridabad. Authorities suspect that both the Delhi blast and the explosive recovery may be linked to a broader terror network operating across state lines.
