New Delhi/Navi Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a colossal cash reward of ₹51 crore for the Indian women’s cricket team, support staff, and the selection committee, in recognition of their historic victory at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

The announcement follows the team’s first-ever triumph in the prestigious 50-over tournament, a monumental achievement that has been lauded across the nation.

In an official statement, the BCCI lauded the entire contingent for their “extraordinary performance on the grandest stage,” which it stated has fulfilled the aspirations of millions of fans.

BCCI President, Mithun Manhas, celebrated the victory, noting the team’s impact beyond the field.

“The team’s resilience, talent and togetherness have lifted our nation’s hopes, and this triumph vindicates the investment and faith the BCCI placed in building a world-class women’s programme,” Manhas said in a statement.

The ₹51 crore reward is one of the most significant financial gestures in the history of Indian sports and is a combination of the BCCI’s bonus and the prize money received from the ICC.

The historic win was secured on Sunday at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in a thrilling final.

The victory ends decades of waiting and heartbreak for the Indian women’s side, which had previously reached the World Cup final in 2005 and 2017 but fell short of the title.
