Jammu : The Director of Horticulture, Jammu, accompanied by the Assistant Director and Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs), conducted an extensive field visit to the Satwari and R.S. Pura areas Saturday. The visit was aimed at assessing horticultural activities and promoting the cultivation of dragon fruit and strawberry, an emerging high-value crop gaining popularity in the region.

During the visit, the Director interacted with local orchardists and reviewed various ongoing horticultural initiatives. At Raipur Satwari, the Director met Ghulam Rasool, a progressive orchardist known for his innovative farming practices and diversification in fruit cultivation. The Director commended his efforts and encouraged other farmers to adopt similar progressive approaches to enhance productivity and profitability.

Highlighting the department’s commitment to modern and sustainable horticultural development, the Director emphasized the promotion of non-traditional fruit crops such as dragon fruit and strawberry which hold significant potential for increasing farmers’ income and strengthening the horticultural economy of the Jammu Division.

The visit reaffirmed the department’s focus on introducing innovative technologies and crop diversification to empower farmers and promote sustainable horticultural growth across the region.
