DC Kupwara inspects Transit Accommodations, Water Supply Schemes in Handwara Sub Div

Kupwara : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, kantSuseWednesday took an extensive tour of Handwara sub division to assess the progress of various ongoing developmental projects in the area.

He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Javaid Naseem Masoodi, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic, Tehsildar Handwara, Executive Engineer R&B and other concerned officers.

During the tour, the DC visited Transit Migrant Accommodation at Nutnussa and took stock of the pace of work on different blocks of buildings. He was informed that out of 12 blocks approved, 9 blocks have been completed and work is undergoing on other 3 blocks which shall be completed by December 2025. He also inspected Transit Accommodation Kulangam in which 15 out of 18 blocks have been completed.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers to speed up the construction work and ensure completion of the projects within the stipulated time frame without compromising the quality.

Later, the DC inspected the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Awathkul-Nutnussa work, which on commissioning will provide clean drinking water to around 600 households of Nutnussa-A and Nutnussa-B panchayats. During the inspection, he also visited WSS Watayen and WSS Kulangam-Chowgol and directed the concerned agencies for completion of these key water supply projects so that the people get timely facilitated. He also inspected WSS Athrutoo which stands functional.

Additionally, the DC inspected the ongoing WSS project under AMRUT 2.0 for Handwara Town.

During the tour to Handwara, the DC paid a visit to high density Apple Nursery chogul, where he reviewed the ongoing activities of the department.
