Jammu ; The Department of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu Wednesday celebrated Vishwakarma Day with great enthusiasm and reverence at the Government Agriculture Workshop and Seed Processing Unit, Talab Tillo. The event was graced by the Director Agriculture Jammu, Anil Gupta who highlighted the pivotal role of agricultural mechanization in ushering in a new era of agricultural advancement.
Addressing the officers and workers, the Director emphasized that farm mechanization is essential to enhance both productivity and quality in the cultivation of food and non-food crops. He underscored the need to adopt modern tools and equipment for sustainable and efficient farming practices, which will contribute significantly to the next agricultural revolution.
Later, a special Puja ceremony of Bhagwan Vishwakarma—the divine architect and patron of artisans and engineers—was organized by the Directorate of Agriculture.
The ceremony included the worship of tools and machinery along with prayers for the safety and well-being of all operators and workers. The event concluded with the distribution of Prasad among the participants.
The Director interacted with the workers and inspected various machines installed at the workshop and seed processing unit, including the Sheet Cutting Machine, Sheet Bending Machine, Beading Machine, Power Hammers, Sheet Rolling Machines and Swaging Machines. He appreciated the efforts of the workshop staff for their contribution in maintaining and fabricating essential agricultural implements used across the region.
Simultaneously, Vishwakarma Puja was also held at the Seed Processing Plant, Seed Multiplication Farm Chinore and Seed Multiplication Farm Chakrohi, where officers and workers participated in the rituals with devotion.
The event was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) Dr. Ashwani Sharma; Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB/Farms) Dr. Aman Jyoti Sharma; Accounts Officer Vishnu Kant Sharma; Agriculture Research Engineer (ARE) Firdous Ahmad Tak, DSCO Nirmal Prakash and other senior officers and staff members of the department.
