Kathua | :  Continuing the series of Export Awareness Workshops for 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), under the aegis of the Industries & Commerce Department organized the 3rd Export Awareness cum E-Commerce Onboarding Drive in District Kathua Thursday.

The workshop aimed to build export awareness and facilitate e-commerce integration for local entrepreneurs, MSMEs, artisans and farmers. Detailed sessions were held on the benefits of exports, IEC registration process, India Business and India Trade Portals, credit linkages, credit risk insurance, e-commerce onboarding, logistics and the export potential of regional products.

The event was attended by representatives from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), District Administration Kathua, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), HDFC Bank and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

Representatives from DGFT, APEDA and FIEO shared key insights on export facilitation and support schemes. DGFT briefed participants on government initiatives such as EPCG, MEIS, SEIS and Advance Authorization, along with the IEC registration process and related documentation. APEDA explained export regulations, product-specific guidelines and the benefits of branding, packaging and marketing assistance to enhance product quality and reach. FIEO highlighted the advantages of registering on the India Business Portal, including free business listings, credit rating support and trade updates for exporters.

Officials from HDFC Bank discussed export credit and financial support mechanisms, detailing its export finance solutions, working capital assistance and digital banking services to facilitate smooth international transactions.

The GeM representatives explained the advantages of on-boarding on the Government e-Marketplace, emphasizing that the sellers from Jammu and Kashmir can reach a nationwide government buyer base through the platform. They also demonstrated the vendor registration process, benefits of transparent procurement and digital payment systems available on GeM.

This workshop forms part of the ongoing series being conducted under the District as Export Hub (DEH) and One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives to promote exports from every district of Jammu and Kashmir and strengthen the overall export ecosystem of the Union Territory.
