Dominant India Take 1-0 Series Lead on Back of Triple Centuries and All-Round Bowling Attack

AHMEDABAD – India clinched a commanding victory over the West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series today at the Narendra Modi Stadium, winning by an innings and 140 runs. The comprehensive performance, sealed on the third day of the match, gives the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Following an all-round dominant display with both bat and ball, the Indian side proved too strong for the visitors, who were unable to cope with the relentless pressure.

After bowling out the West Indies for just 162 in their first innings, India responded with a massive total, declaring their innings at 448 runs for the loss of five wickets. The foundation for this formidable score was laid by three centurions: KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and debutant wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel. Their centuries helped India amass a significant 286-run lead.

The West Indies batting line-up faltered once again in their second innings, collapsing for a mere 146 runs. India’s bowling attack, spearheaded by the pace of Mohammed Siraj and the spin of Ravindra Jadeja, maintained a tight grip on the match. Jadeja, who also contributed a century with the bat, was exceptional with the ball, returning figures of 4 for 54 in the second innings, while Siraj chipped in with 3 wickets, completing an impactful match haul.

The second and final match of the series is scheduled to begin on the 10th of this month at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
