Awantipora | : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) held its 6th University Library Committee meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil A Romshoo.

The primary focus of the meeting was to modernize the Rumi Library, transforming it from a traditional repository into a contemporary learning and research center that meets the evolving needs of education. The committee discussed strategies to enhance the library’s role as a collaborative and innovative hub, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy. A significant investment was approved to expand both print and digital resources, including academic databases, e-journals, and e-books, ensuring 24/7 access to information for students and faculty. Additionally, plans were made to incorporate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence tools and virtual reality labs, alongside improved tech-lending services, to foster advanced digital skills and creative research opportunities. Prof. Romshoo emphasized the library’s critical role as the intellectual heart of IUST, reaffirming the university’s commitment to strengthening it as a vital resource. The meeting also highlighted the library’s function in enhancing information literacy, with a commitment to introduce more training programs aimed at helping students and faculty navigate complex information landscapes effectively.
