In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that following a complaint by Muneera Reshi, W/o Gulzar Ahmad Shaan, R/o Pati Akhran, Kulgam, regarding the fraudulent exchange of her ATM card at Mir Bazar on October 5, 2026, and subsequent unauthorised transactions amounting to ₹9.5 lakh, technical analysis and CCTV footage identified the main accused as Vinender Singh @ Sheenu, S/o Roshan Lal, R/o Kesan Colony, Ward No. 12, Barwala, Hisar, Haryana, and Mukesh Singh, S/o Rajuram, R/o Hansi, District Hisar, Haryana. Although a police team from Police Post Mir Bazar found their residences locked in Haryana, the entire defrauded amount of ₹9.5 lakh was successfully recovered from Shanti Devi, W/o Nathu Ram, R/o Data Gurana, District Hisar, Haryana, who is the maternal uncle’s wife of Vinender Singh, and Rajpati Devi, W/o Raj Kumar, R/o Sorkhi, District Hisar, Haryana, who is the maternal aunt of Mukesh Singh, both of whom have been arrested for receiving the proceeds of the crime.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, advised people to remain vigilant during ATM transactions, never hand over cards or disclose PINs and OTPs to strangers, and report suspicious activities immediately while appealing for credible information regarding the whereabouts of the absconding accused.
