Budgam | : A vibrant Kisan Mela (Farmers’ Fair) was successfully organized Saturday at Bahisht-e-Zehra Park in Budgam district, bringing together farmers, agricultural experts, and government officials to promote modern farming techniques, showcase innovative agricultural solutions, and strengthen the agricultural community in the region.

The event was presided over by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Khansahib, Saifudin Bhat, and MLA Chadoora, Ali Mohd Dar along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah.

MLA Bhat, MLA Dar, and ADC, interacted with farmers to understand their challenges related to crop yields, irrigation, and market access. They also inspected the stalls, which showcased a range of agricultural products and services, including high-yield seeds, organic fertilizers, modern farming equipment, and information on government schemes.

They advised the farmers to avail benefits of agricultural schemes, adopt modern technologies, and prepare the younger generation to take agriculture as a profession. They stressed the importance of staying connected with the department for availing online facilities and ensuring improved production and productivity.

Joint Director (Inputs), Agriculture Department, Kashmir, and Agriculture Information Officer Kashmir gave detailed information about SEWA-PARV, HADP, JKCIP and other programmes.

On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam provided a comprehensive overview of the event, highlighting the objectives of the mela and the Agriculture department’s ongoing efforts to support farmers through advanced inputs, subsidies, and sustainable practices.

The Kisan Mela served as a vital platform to empower farmers with knowledge, resources, and direct access to agricultural experts. It underscored the Jammu and Kashmir government’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of farmers in Budgam district.

The mela was attended by the senior officers of the department.
