KU hosts India Skills 2025 orientation, donation drive under Seva Parv- 2025

Srinagar | : The University of Kashmir (KU), through its Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL) on Friday hosted an Awareness-cum-Orientation programme focused on the India Skills 2025 initiative.

The event, part of Seva Parv -2025, was organized in collaboration with the Mission Directorate of the J&K Skill Development Department (JKSDD) and coordinated by the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW). The programme aimed to inform students and trainees about the India Skills 2025 competition, detailing the selection process and the professional opportunities it presents. KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the university’s dedication to enhancing skill-based learning and entrepreneurship, stating that equipping students with modern skills is crucial for their personal development and the socio-economic progress of Jammu and Kashmir. Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada, highlighted the importance of integrating skill-based training into the academic curriculum to foster innovation and improve employability. Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal noted that the university’s initiatives reflect a commitment to preparing students for emerging job markets. Mr. Shahzad Alam (IAS), Director of JKSDD, provided an overview of the India Skills 2025 competition, underscoring entrepreneurship as essential for sustainable livelihoods. Mr. Syed Tabasum Geelani, OSD of the Mission Directorate JKSDD, described skill enhancement as a pathway to new opportunities and encouraged student participation in national skill contests. Director DLL Prof. M.I. Geer discussed the directorate’s efforts to promote lifelong learning through various training programmes and emphasized the importance of industry-academia partnerships. The event also included the recognition of trainers and trainees who completed DLL’s skill-based courses. In conjunction with the orientation, the Institute of Home Science initiated a donation drive for clothing and stationery, setting up collection counters across the campus to foster community service and compassion as part of Seva Parv 2025.
