Srinagar | : The University of Kashmir (KU) on Wednesday participated in Seva Parv 2025, a nationwide celebration focused on service and community welfare, through various events organized by the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW).
The Key activities included an exhibition on Indian Knowledge Systems, a two-day free eye screening camp, and a fruit distribution drive. The Centre of Central Asian Studies (CCAS) hosted an exhibition at the Central Asian Museum, showcasing India’s intellectual heritage and cultural exchanges. Inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan, the exhibition featured ancient coins, manuscripts, and artifacts, emphasizing India’s historical connections with Central Asia, including Tajikistan and China. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the initiative’s goal of raising awareness among students about India’s knowledge systems and cultural ties. The eye screening camp, conducted in collaboration with Kashmir Eye Hospital, provided free vision services to over 600 participants, including students, faculty, and staff. Specialists offered guidance on preventive eye care and healthy lifestyle practices to promote good vision. Additionally, Prof. Nilofer Khan distributed fruits to students at the Kashmir University Model High School (KUMHS), reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering values of care and compassion. This event coincided with the Prime Minister’s birthday, aligning with the broader national initiative of Seva Parv, which promotes volunteerism and community engagement across India.
